Fall is in the air! I realize that in Phoenix that means temperatures of just under 100 degrees, but believe me, it makes a difference to us desert dwellers! School is off to a good start, with 190 registered (not bad, last year we opened with 175) and hopefully we will hit the 200 mark (or close) during the year. Our biggest challenge is funding. In spite of the Tuition Tax Credit, the support from the Diocese of Phoenix , the Brophy Community Foundation, the Catholic Community Foundation and so many faithful donors, we are still running a big deficit. Any and all gifts are humbly appreciated, please use our Paypal account on our website (www.stmatthewaz.org) or mail in an old fashioned check to donate to this great cause. The month of October promises to be a busy one at St Matthew School. Septiembre/Octubre, del 2009 Ya llego el otoño! Me doy cuenta que en Phoenix, esto quiere decir temperaturas de menos de 100 grados Fahrenheit, pero créanme, aquí en el desierto se nota la diferencia. La escuela tuvo un buen comienzo con 190 alumnos matriculados (en agosto pasado abrimos con 175) y espero que llegaremos a los 200 antes de fin del ano escolar. Nuestro desafío mas fuerte es la falta de fondos. A pesar de los fondos recaudados por el crédito de los impuestos, los fondos proporcionados por Brophy y la fundación católica, siempre necesitamos más para cubrir el déficit, así es que estamos “levantando fondos” con entusiasmo. Pueden utilizar la cuenta de “paypal” en nuestra página web (www.stmatthewaz.org) o mandar un chequecito por correo~ El mes de octubre promete varios acontecimientos, entre ellos: La Fiesta anual, el domingo, 2 de octubre, de 8-1:30 p.m. (Gran rifa a la 1:30 p.m.) No hay escuela el lunes, 10 de octubre, junta de maestros en la diócesis Salida a la una de la tarde el miércoles, 12 de octubre y el jueves 13 de octubre, conferencias de padres y maestros Boletas del primer periodo, viernes, 14 de octubre Vacación de otoño: octubre 17-21 Junta de padres y familias: Lunes, 24 de octubre, 6:30 p.m. Desfile de “los santos”, lunes, 31 de octubre, 10:30 a.m. y luego gran almuerzo “pot Luck” para toda la escuela
